The Car Wreck When Marketing Doesn't Talk to Operations
It's been rough getting the supplies to make our masks. In our recent experience, two out of three purchases from Joann.com get canceled--a week AFTER we get the order confirmation. In the rare chance that our order isn't canceled, delivery (even with curbside pickup!) is 2-3 weeks out anyway, so we now source most of our supplies from other vendors.
So why are they still sending us aggressive marketing offers? "Hurry!....35% off your whole order TODAY!" "Get your ___ TODAY!" These daily doorbuster offers feel like they're mocking us, when it takes 2 weeks to get basics like navy blue thread or sewing machine needles.
We're not disappointed that Jo Ann can't deliver because we get that it's really really tough out there for everyone right now. We're disappointed that they can't set and deliver expected outcomes.
Even though they explain on their website about corona related delivery delays, it feels dishonest when we're barraged with aggressive marketing offers to "Buy Today!' It seems as if the left hand isn't talking to the right hand. Has anyone in Marketing seen how upset and scared the employees look at curbside pickup?
We try really hard at 3GC to be honest. We don't always get it right, but we try. For example, your mask will be wrinkled when you get it and stay that way because well, that's what 100% cotton does. We also try to minimize the handling after your mask is made so ironing is out. I mean, are you going to be ironing your mask? Well then, you should see in our photos what it's going to look like for you.
Anyway, thanks for your support. We love what we do and hope that you love your community as much as we love ours. On that note, please remember that for every three masks that you buy, you get an extra one to gift to the Community Hero (favorite grocery cashier, food delivery driver, package delivery contractor) who makes your life better. Love your community!
